Kinetics, a Karpowership initiative, confirmed on Sept. 30, 2026 from London that the LNG carrier Arctic Voyager will be converted into a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit named LNGT Akdeniz. The announcement adds another converted vessel to the company's floating LNG fleet and follows its recent start of construction on its first high-capacity FSRU, LNGT. Kinetics said the unit will provide utility-scale regasification capacity alongside the flexibility to serve a wide range of project configurations, complementing its existing fleet.
Technical Details of LNGT Akdeniz
Once converted, LNGT Akdeniz will operate as a multi-spec FSRU equipped with Moss-type cargo tanks. The vessel will hold approximately 143,000 cubic meters of storage capacity and deliver a regasification flow rate of 650 million standard cubic feet per day. Kinetics expects the unit to have an economic life of 20 years, with delivery of the converted vessel anticipated in the third quarter of 2028.
Executives Point to Demand for Flexible Regasification
Mehmet Katmer, General Manager of Kinetics, said the global LNG market continues to show strong demand for flexible, rapidly deployable regasification infrastructure. He pointed to growing focus on security of energy supply, the need for flexible import capacity, and the ability to bring gas infrastructure online within shorter development timelines as factors underpinning demand for floating LNG solutions. In his view, the investment strengthens Kinetics' capacity to meet a broad range of market requirements through a diversified fleet of high-specification, utility-scale FSRU assets.
Zeynep Harezi Yılmaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Karpowership, characterized Kinetics as a natural extension of Karpowership's integrated energy offering. She said that expanding its fleet of floating LNG infrastructure enables Kinetics to reinforce the group's ability to help clients secure reliable energy supply and diversify their energy mix as they transition towards a lower-carbon future.
Kinetics' Role Within the Group
Kinetics develops, builds, owns and operates floating LNG infrastructure and next-generation energy solutions alongside an expanding renewable portfolio. Its assets include Floating Storage and Regasification Units, Floating Storage Units, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and other flexible energy platforms intended to help utilities, governments, and industrial customers accelerate access to secure, reliable, and cleaner energy infrastructure.
The company pairs engineering expertise with rapid deployment capabilities in support of energy security and the global energy transition. The LNGT Akdeniz conversion project adds to a roster that already includes the company's first high-capacity FSRU, LNGT, currently under construction as part of the expansion of its floating LNG infrastructure portfolio.
Parent Company Karpowership's Scale
Karpowership, the initiative behind Kinetics, brings more than 25 years of experience delivering fast, flexible, and reliable power solutions globally. As owner and operator of the world's only Powership fleet, it supplies over 8,500 MW of capacity through 45 Powerships, backed by land-based and renewable assets. The company also manages the full LNG value chain with 11 LNG vessels, spanning procurement, storage, regasification, and offshore transfer.
Positioning for the Years Ahead
As delivery of LNGT Akdeniz approaches in Q3 2028, Kinetics frames the vessel as part of its strategy to offer utility-scale regasification capacity adaptable to a wide variety of project configurations, responding to what it identifies as sustained market demand for flexible import infrastructure.
