Synergy Marine Group has taken over technical management of LNGT TÜRKIYE, the Karpowership floating storage and regasification unit formerly named KARADENIZ LNGT POWERSHIP TÜRKIYE, as the vessel prepares to begin FSRU service.
The unit was named at Seatrium's Admiralty Yard in Singapore in September, and Synergy has remained involved through her conversion and commissioning as she moves toward operations. Seatrium performed the shipyard conversion work for Karpowership. Once operational, LNGT TÜRKIYE will carry 127 594 m3 of LNG in Moss-type tanks and is capable of regasifying up to 150 million ft3/d of gas.
Third sister unit in Synergy's conversion portfolio
The project marks Synergy's third engagement with this series of conversions, following LNGT AMERICAS and LNGT OCEANIA. In the case of LNGT AMERICAS, delivered in 2025, Synergy handled the conversion on a turnkey basis, spanning design, engineering, procurement and site supervision, and then took on full technical management of the vessel. The group's experience in the sector also reaches back to 2020, when it completed a project converting an LNG carrier into a floating storage unit.
According to Synergy, its Projects and Lifecycle team collaborates with its gas carrier management colleagues, an arrangement designed to carry knowledge from conversion and commissioning into maintenance planning, crew preparation and technical support once the vessel enters service.
Group CEO points to service performance as the true measure
Jesper Kristensen, Group CEO of Synergy Marine Group, framed the company's philosophy around the vessel's long-term role. "Karpowership is giving LNG carriers a second working life as gas supply infrastructure for power generation," he said.
"For me, the test of a conversion is how well the unit serves that new purpose over the years that follow. Our responsibility continues in service, so maintainability and the demands on the crew matter to us from the project stage. I thank Karpowership for its confidence in Synergy across LNGT AMERICAS, OCEANIA, and TÜRKIYE."
Announcement lands amid busy period for floating LNG
LNGT TÜRKIYE's approach to service coincides with heightened activity across the floating LNG sector. LNG Industry has reported several related developments: Golar LNG acquired a conversion vessel on 9 October 2026, and Seatrium secured an FSRU conversion contract from Excelerate Energy on the same day.
Earlier in that week, on 6 October 2026, Wood Mackenzie published analysis naming floating LNG as the primary route to supply diversification. With the naming ceremony behind her and Synergy Marine Group installed as technical manager, Karpowership's newly converted unit is now positioned to join the company's growing fleet of gas supply infrastructure supporting power generation.
